Superfast VIIThe greek Ferrycompany "Superfast Ferries" started a all-year-round Ferryservice between Rostock and Hanko in May 2001. Superfast's Ships can all go faster than 28 kn. - with Dieselengines (just what Finnlines didn't want for FINNJET). Superfast Ferries was founded in 1995; after the war in Yugoslavia it was not possible to get to Greece by the way over the country. So the Passengervolume on the Greece-Italy route was so big, that Superfast opened a new Route and later they even decided to order 2 more ferries after their "Superfast I" and "Superfast II". These didn't look really similar to the first 2 Ships anymore. But starting now, all Superfast Ferries are looking nearly same. Superfast was the first company who copied the Finnjet-Principe (Fast Ferry built for a special route). Since 2001 Superfast has even got a "Superfast V & VI" and for Finlandtraffic the sisters "Superfast VII & VIII". On 17th May 2001 Superfast VII started service between Rostock and Hanko. Later, on 8th July Superfast VIII started her service on this route. Alltogether Superfast has a fleet of 10 Ships, but already the next RoPax Ferries will be probably ordered soon. On Board the Superfast Ships you'll note an unknown Standard, which we don't know on the Baltic sea yet! An interesting mix of Greek specialities with a German Touch decorated with Scandinavian Flair! :) But the safety on the ships is however scandinavian Standard! Furthermore the ships are not only loaded from the stern, they have a bow cargate, which is not the case in the adriatic sea. Even the Passengers get on board the Ship via a normal gangway on the Hanko-Rostock route! Unfortunately Superfast is rarely able to keep the schedule, at least it has already happened that they had one hour delay because of wind! At least the wings at the funnel don't seem to help either.. :-)
